Game Jam 2026!
With almost 12 weeks passed of the Game Jam, we hope your ideas are now starting to take shape and you are tinkering and debugging creations.
The Game Jam entry form is open from Tuesday 22nd April and will close on Monday 1st June.
All learners can enter their games at any point during this time. Please follow the instructions in the form to ensure the game link is shared correctly.

Refugees: The Data Behind the Story
This interactive session will help teachers explore issues around refugees and migration in the classroom, empowering learners with the data literacy skills to critically assess claims they come across in the media.
Scotdec and the Data Education in Schools team will share practical activities and resources on terminology, respectful dialogue, interpreting data and understanding how statistics can be used, or misused, to shape narratives.

The Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC) are pleased to announce that the School Library Improvement Fund 2026/2027 will be opening in the coming weeks.
Applications must be submitted through East Lothian Library Services. If you are interested, please speak to a contact from the Library Service in the first instance.

Be Internet Legends (Primary Cyber Reslience and Internet Safety Resources)
Google have partnered with Parentzone to create a series of 12 planned lessons aimed at developing digital citizenship. Find these here!
The Be Internet Legends curriculum pack includes lesson plans, engaging classroom activities, posters, stickers and more. The curriculum is built around five pillars — Sharp, Alert, Secure, Kind and Brave — and is designed to equip children with the key skills needed to stay safe online including critical thinking and empathy. There are also free downloadable family activities to engage parents and an interactive online game called Interland.

Their new antiracist website antiracisted.scot is now also available which provides workshops for 2nd, 3rd level. ScotDec have been supporting local authorities with this work and offering CLPL that guides practitioners through this resource and develops anti-racist practice.

GIRFEC e-Learning
The e-learning modules are available at two levels: informed and skilled. The ‘informed’ level applies to any practitioner providing services to the public, especially those likely to come in contact with children, young people and/or their families. The ‘informed’ module may also be helpful for others who wish to gain a general understanding about ‘Getting it right for every child’. The ‘skilled’ level applies to any practitioner likely to come in contact with babies, infants, children, young people and/or their families and carers, especially those working directly with them. The ‘skilled’ module may also be helpful for others who wish to gain more depth of understanding about ‘Getting it right for every child’.
