Building on our partnership with National Youth Choir of Scotland (www.nycos.co.uk) free singing sessions are offered to all East Lothian primary school pupils from P3-P7.
This year, we are changing the way we run the singing groups. Instead of weekly sessions we will run three “Sing & Play” days and a full weekend of fun including two performances. Sessions are open to young people in P3-P7 and are FREE to attend.
The project will take place in March 2026. Click here for details of the venues, dates and times and to register.
The aims of this project are for young people to enjoy singing, develop their musicianship, make friends and increase self confidence. Singing has been shown to positively affect mental health and well being, and contribute to higher achievement in other academic subjects. As well as learning songs, the children play musical games specifically designed to support the project aims mentioned above. The games are an important part of the programme and a favourite with the children.
The YMI Outcome for this project is:
Young people have more opportunities to take part in enjoyable and quality music making opportunities.
