A CAS project is a collaborative, well-considered series of sequential CAS experiences, engaging students in one or more of the CAS strands of creativity, activity, and service. CAS students must be involved in at least one CAS project during their CAS programme.
Address any single strand of CAS or a combination of 2 or 3 strands but oftentimes involves service
Lasts at least one month from planning to completion
Requires planning as per the planning stages
Includes a Risk assessment
Involves collaboration
Involves reflections on your LOs
Includes elements of international mindedness & global engagement.
Examples of CAS projects:
Creativity: A student group plans, designs and creates a mural.
Activity: Students organize and participate in a sports team including training sessions and matches against other teams.
Service: Students set up and conduct tutoring for people in need.
Creativity and activity: Students choreograph a routine for their marching band.
Service and activity: Students plan and participate in the planting and maintenance of a garden with members of the local community.
Service and creativity: Students identify that children at a local school need backpacks and subsequently design and make the backpacks out of recycled materials.
Creativity, activity, and service: Students rehearse and perform a dance production for a community retirement home.

A CAS experience must:
cover at least one learning outcome
fit within one or more of the CAS strands
be based on a personal interest, skill, talent or opportunity for growth
provide opportunities to develop the attributes of the IB learner profile
not be used or included in the student’s Diploma course requirements
usually shorter than a month
Some examples of an experience are:
Activity: preparing for and trying out for a sports team
Service: preparing stalls in advance and helping out at food fair
Creativity & Service: painting the set over a number of weekends for a school play
A CAS experience can be a single event or may be an extended series of events while CAS project is a collaborative series of sequential CAS experiences lasting at least one month.
When planning a CAS experience in which participants may be exposed to hazards, it is important that risks are identified and assessed. Students participating in any experiences and projects outside the campus should download the form, have it signed by their parents and charity supervisor and returned to the CAS coordinator two weeks prior to start of activity/project.

Fundraising tips
Bake sales cannot be the only way to fund raise for your project as slots are limited and they do serve different curriculum such as ULP Program projects and the Middle School.

In an effort to reduce contagion all direct contact fundraising such as bake sales, crafts sales, fundraising tournaments are suspended during pandemics.
