ASK (All Special Kids) is a Geneva-based, non-profit organisation and an NGO founded in 2003 in direct response to parents’ needs. ASK is dedicated to offering a range of programmes and services to support children with learning differences and special educational needs. Our programmes are driven by the needs of parents, their children and the professionals in the field. ASK is a volunteer run organisation. Our programmes and events could not happen without our dedicated and motivated volunteers. Come and add your skills and interests to our team. Through a unique network approach, ASK volunteer program gives student volunteers, young adults between 15 and 18, a positive experience with community service. ASK volunteer program helps each volunteer to connect with a good cause, while taking into consideration the time and location of any community service, in order that it fits their schedule and time commitments.

ESCA CancerSupport provides emotional support, practical help, well-being activities and a welcoming community in English to anyone affected by cancer. In 2020 we saw a 24% increase in people contacting ESCA Cancer Support for help, touching the lives of over 200 people. Without the generosity and fundraising efforts of our community we wouldn’t be able to make this happen
We are looking for CAS students who are interested in developing their project and communication skills by arranging fundraising or awareness raising activities on our behalf.
Interested students can contact Marina Teahon at marcom@cancerSupport.ch

Law 101 was founded by Martina Ravano and India Tamari, now in Year 13, as a club where people interested in law and justice could come together and put their passion and skills to work. The club was a success last year and now continues this year. Perla in Year 12 is taking over the club for this year and is happy to welcome any person interested in law to the club. You do not need to have any past experience in law or justice, just to be interested. This year, we will be doing several mock trials on famous cases throughout history, learning about the structure of trials and what shapes our legal system, and hearing various guest-speakers, amongst them a former criminal-lawyer now working in corporate law. The official start date is not decided yet but will be set within the next two weeks. Being part of this club counts for CAS!
For any questions, please feel free to email perla.lepage@learning.ecolint.ch and make sure to follow our Instagram @law101_lgb and we hope to see you soon!

LGB’s extracurricular performing arts programme (ENCORE Performing Arts) offers multiple opportunities for Creativity, Activity, and Service projects, including many with a strong student leadership component.
CAS projects can be created through clubs (Musical Theatre Club, French Theatre Club, Tech Theatre Club), through medal-level qualifications (LAMDA Public Speaking, LAMDA Acting, LAMDA Musical Theatre, CPMDT Conservatoire Populaire training), and through advanced performance groups (Voice Company, Dance Company).
CAS students can also create projects in the Middle and Primary Schools by assisting with groups (Drama Groups in French and English), assisting with clubs (Stage Combat), and even assisting in the Magic Academy.

The Student’s League of Nations (SLN) is a realistic simulation of the United Nations’ General Assembly by young people aged 16–20 from schools throughout the world. It is successor to the Students’ United Nations (SUN), founded by the International School of Geneva in 1953 – at the initiative of Robert Leach, a historian who had a long and distinguished career at the school – and the first of its kind in the world. SUN was renamed SLN in 1983 in honour of the League of Nations, the world’s first comprehensive attempt to settle differences peacefully rather than through brute force. SUN/SLN is therefore the world’s oldest simulation of the UN by students, and the only one that takes place within the premises of the United Nations Organization. The objective is to participate in a realistic simulation of the United Nations’ General Assembly in the role of delegates. The rules stipulate that each delegation is composed of two students who may not represent their own country. After a selection process and registration, the students have a couple of months in which to propose resolutions, from which several are selected to be debated during the conference. The format of SLN in 2021 in still under review and announcements will be made as soon as possible

The project I am proposing is for a group of CAS students to assist in the development and maintenance of the School Garden situated between the Middle School and the Grand Batiment. Ther garden, or le Potager, has been five years in the making and has provided a rich resource for outdoor education and a haven of calm at the centre of the school.
Much of the maintenance over the past couple of years has been performed by myself and a small Gardening Club on Wednesday afternoon, and of course by various teachers and their classes. Like all gardens there comes a time for some serious renovation work as the purpose of the site evolves. It would be wonderful to broaden the engagement particularly with 2024 approaching. That should give a good idea of the timetable I envisage for much of the work.
I would like to invite a handful of interested students to meet with myself to discuss the possibility of being involved in:
· The construction of new, more manageable compost bays using pallets and other materials sourced from the school in the spirit of recycling
· The construction of raised beds that would offer greater access to all students
· General maintenance duties that any busy garden requires
There are other possible projects envisaged that should contribute to the well-being and future of the garden. In the initial stages we must find suitable times for myself and anyone interested to work together. I believe it is an opportunity that is ideally suited to achieving the goals of CAS
Please feel free to contact me directly so that we can move forward with the project.
Very best wishes
Alan Walsh

The Peace Talks Club is a club in which students discuss ways in which peace can be brought about globally non-destructively on an interdisciplinary scale by watching previous peace talks, starting debates and giving presentations. In September the founders of the club are attending the Geneva Peace Talks in the UN and students are able to watch this presentation if they so wish to. This is a club for people interested in conflict resolution, and want inspiration on how to make a difference in what they truly care about. Some topics brought up last year were racism in educational institutions, particularly the (often) highly selective curriculum, the innateness of capitalism, and attempted definitions of peace. We sincerely hope likeminded people will join us this year.
