đđ Volunteer Opportunity: Become an Online English Tutor with EFC!
Dear Y12 and Y13,
If you are a native or fluent English speaker interested in teaching, Education First Cambodia (EFC) would love to have you on board as an English tutor!Â
EFC is an organization that works hard to provide higher education (alongside other opportunities) to underprivileged women from rural parts of Cambodia. Among these opportunities, students receive tutoring from volunteer English speakers to help them practice their grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, or general conversation. As such, EFC is always looking for more motivated tutors to join their cause in order to provide as many of their students as possible with English support in addition to their schooling. Feel free to explore the EFC website to find out more about what they do: https://www.educationfirstcambodia.org.Â
In my experience, tutoring for EFC is a truly unique opportunity to learn in addition to teaching. Alongside tutoring, you will be able to learn about your studentâs interests and culture as you share yours with them, and will have the chance to form a meaningful bond with the exceptional students in the EFC family.
As a tutor, you do not have to be a native or mother tongue speaker, however you must be fluent in the English language. All sessions with your student will be online, but the time of day, call length, and platform you call on are up to you and your student. Typically, most tutors call their students for an hour once per week. Each EFC student has English lessons in school, however some may have slightly different levels compared to others, and it is up to you to structure your lessons accordingly. Note that you may communicate with your student however you like (email, etcâŠ), however the EFC students typically prefer to use Telegram.
If you have any further questions or are interested in joining, please contact me at leo.mansfield2007@gmail.com. I am also open to providing advice for your first few calls. Thank you for your consideration!
Best,
Leo Mansfield
