Music

Music...the international language that everyone enjoys. Whether it's music you listen to, computer games you play, films or TV, or radio, music is all around us. At Outwood Academy Easingwold, music is integral to your development as a person and it is a great way to develop your creative and social skills. Don't worry if you've never played an instrument, as you will get the opportunity to play a range of instruments throughout your music career at the Academy. The instrumental skills you learn will then be used to discover and explore the elements of music and discover styles from around the world.

In Year 7 we will start by learning the basic skills needed to listen, play and compose music independently. We will develop these skills, called Elements, by learning how to play instruments which will allow us to Rock away in rock bands, drum away in West Africa, feel the vibe with off beat Reggae from Jamaica all this whilst discovering and listening to music across history. You will also get an introduction to the Hawaiian Ukulele, one of the most popular instruments in the world. So plenty for you to immerse yourself in.

Do you play an instrument? Would you like to play one? Then you're in luck! We offer instrument lessons on any instrument and if you already play, you will be able to continue your lessons as soon as you start at the Academy. If you would like to start then just grab a letter when you arrive and off you go!

After school is when the department really comes alive! Everyday sees a different activity. You can take part in Ukulele club, School of Rock, Pop Choir, OAE Concert Orchestra and Production band. The most important part is that everyone is welcome, no matter what their experience. We look forward to seeing you there.
