Learning Resource Centre

The Library at Outwood Academy Easingwold is packed with books! We have a whole wall of shelves

aimed at providing some great reads for your “reading for pleasure” - which we arrange on our shelves

alphabetically by the author’s name - so that you can easily find all the books by David Walliams or

Jacqueline Wilson, and so on. But we also sticker our books to show what genre they belong to - so

that you can easily find books about animals, or ghosts or funny stories!

We ask our students to help us ensure that their library is always current, containing many of the best new books for

children and teenagers, to support our own professional methods and research.

You can also explore our Library catalogue, Accessit, online - there is a “Library Access” link on the school website for

whenever you want to take a look, see what’s new and search for something that you are interested in.

As a new student in Year 7, you will be timetabled to visit the Library once a week during an English lesson to enjoy a quiet reading

session, where you each read the book of your choice - guided by your Teacher and the Librarian. There are also other opportunities

to visit the library - during lesson time with your class, during social time, or after school for enrichment activities.

We follow the Accelerated Reader programme here at Easingwold, which helps us to understand every individual’s reading skills and

abilities, so that we can better guide your reading choice in order for you to progress.

And when we welcome you to the library for the first time, you will be offered the

opportunity to select your very own book, which the school library and English

Department join the Booktrust in providing for every new student to take home and

keep.
