Hi, how are you? What’s been on your mind? Can you share your thoughts?

It is with these three simple questions that the new MuseOn exhibit starts off; asking about the wellbeing of everyone, as we traverse this “new normal”. We have all been through a lot these past few months, and the MuseOn would like to serve as a platform for helping the school community express their inner thoughts, ideas, and feelings. For some, formulating these thoughts can be quite a challenge. Thus, the museum space both at the Barra as well as the Gávea campuses, become a tool for speaking out words that are embedded in our minds. Words, ideas and feelings that may wish, or even need to express.

"Abracadabra" is actually ancient word, perhaps coming from aramaic, where it translates to "what I speak, is what I create". So what words can we use to create something that helps others; that connects, that binds us when we are living in times of fear and uncertainty? What words can we speak to create?

“We” is the result from the action of input/output, inhaling/exhaling, transmitting/receiving that a conversation does. It enables us to understand the connection all of us have. ‘We’ is the collective, it is inclusive. And by sharing words with each other - these inner thoughts, ideas, and feelings, the “we” is enabled. It also helps close the gap that has been separating us for so many months.

During this exhibit, the MuseOn will help the visitors interpret the 'We', by providing a set of tools and techniques to help uphold collaboration, as well as boosting expressive and listening skills needed for us to keep connecting and strengthening the ‘We’, pathing the way for us to seek those constructive abracadabra words, and helping the community as a whole.
