Chapter 2

3rd - 5th-Grades

"Tale of The 4 Kingdoms"

Greetings to all 3rd-5th Grade Teachers and Staff!

This part of the website describes a bit more detail about the project and what to ask of the students.

This is a visit is a different experience that the students are used to here at the MuseOn. It makes the visit more dynamic and frees up teachers to decide when to do it. It is meant to be a short activity, spanning around 24 minutes from start to finish. This fits easily into any break period. This exhibit is an auditory exhibit that will have the students traveling around the campus in order to understand the many implications the concept of flow can have to the individual and the surrounding environment. The visit was structured according to the curricula of the focused classes. We will be touching base with some of the units the students either have studied or will study. So it will act as an educational tool for them and you. This audio visit is meant to take the form of a fairy tale based on the four earth systems: hydrosphere, geosphere, atmosphere and biosphere. The students are required to do the visit, then either alone, or in groups, finish the fairy tale with the elements of what they've experienced in the tour. They can do videos, drawings, write....whatever comes to their mind. Finished stories will be published on this website.

I would like to ask for you to document as well as possible all parts of the audio visit. I want to make an end of the year film with the students doing the activity. So please upload all videos and images into this folder.

For the visit, you will need one blue-tooth enabled audio box, or something you can plug your phone into and amplify the sound!

During the first part of the visit, when you arrive at the first location (the underground kingdom), the narrator will ask you to pause the audio. Once you go inside the area for the first location, this video should be playing using the location's video projector. When the students arrive, it should immediately be played. Once the video has finished, the narrator will ask you to restart the audio you have been playing to the students via your cellphone.

Therefore I suggest that someone will have the video ready to play prior to the arrival of the students.

If you have any questions please be sure to ask me whenever you can.

Thanks to all,

Daniel

List of materials needed!

The audio visit will need a certain number of materials. Each visit might ask the students for one or more of the materials listed below. Please make sure they bring them all on the scheduled audio visit day! The school may be able to provide some of the items, like clipboards and paper as well as writing materials that the students should already have.

The materials:

1) A costume to wear during the visit.

2) A blank sheet of paper and a clipboard, or surface to write or draw on, like a clipboard.

3) A writing utensil, like a pen, pencil, marker, or crayon.

4) A quick snack. Nothing too fancy, just something easy.

5) Most importantly: please make sure you are wearing a mask properly, and have some hand sanitizer ready for use if needed.
