What would it be like to live inside a video game? Think living in Roblox, Fortnite, Genshin Impact, or any other virtual game like that. I guess you could choose your own avatar and build your own house or even world! Who would you be, if you could be anything in the game? With all the choices available, the possibilities seem endless!
Lately, there have been a number of games and virtual worlds that have appeared and are welcoming all of us in! We can even buy special goggles or gloves, that we can wear in the real world that helps us see and feel in the virtual world. Some of these places also have ways for you to even make virtual money while playing and interacting with the game zone and other players. It seems easier and easier to spend more and more time inside these virtual worlds. Why is that?
As a matter of fact, a lot of things seem to be going virtual. Virtual economy, virtual money, virtual school, virtual pets, virtual friends, even virtual property! Why are so many things becoming like that? Who is promoting that around the world? Is virtual better than real?
If this is our future, will we really be happier like that? What makes us unhappy now that we might want to go to these imaginary worlds and games instead of us spending time in the real world, with real people and experiences?
These and many other questions asked in the new MuseOn exhibit; 'Immaterial - Becoming The Void'. The school's museum invites you to come over and visit the show, and create answers to some of these investigations. Maybe you will have some questions of your own! What's important is coming to your own conclusions, and perhaps deciding on what to do about this new future.
