Dear Parents,

We hope that you and your families are all in good health.

Kindly note the following regarding the summative examinations 1 for the current academic year 2020-2021:

1. Grades 1 To 3: There will be NO TESTS for these grades. Evaluation will be continuous and the term final mark will be an accumulation of the student’s marks in all formative assessments throughout the term.

2. Grades 4 To 12: There will be two mini tests in each of the two terms of the academic year 2020-2021.

   • Mini Test 1 of Term 1 will be conducted for students in grades 4 till 12 and will be administered online as per the examination schedule that was shared with you during the period from November 19 till December 10, 2020.

   • Saturday December 5, 2020 is an exam day for students in grades 9 to12.

   • Each subject’s exam is scheduled in two different days for one grade level where specific sections will be tested each day depending on the groups (colors); except for elective subjects that will be taking place on the same day for all grade sections.

   • Mini Test 1 exams will include the material covered between September 20 and November 5, 2020.

   • Mini Test 1 has a weight of 20% of the total mark of term 1.

3. Online Test Taking/Setting Protocols: Adequate test security helps the school to ensure that a test measures what it purports to measure. Inadequate test security may jeopardize the validity of the test and hence the ability to interpret the test results. Therefore, we kindly ask you to ensure that your son/daughter adheres to the following online test-taking protocols during all exams:

   • Students must sit in a room alone without parents or anyone else present, straight up on a chair with the primary device used to log into the exam placed on a desk in front of them.

   • If the student is taking the exam on a laptop (primary device), he/she must keep the camera on during all exams and he/she will not need to use another device (secondary device).

   • If the student is taking the exam on a tablet or iPad (primary device), he/she must use another secondary device (i.e. mobile phone/iPad) to log into “Google Meet” and open the camera.

   • CAMERAS MUST BE OPEN DURING ALL ASSESSMENTS. Therefore, ensure that you can access “Google Meet” on your secondary device before you take the exams.

   • The secondary device, (the one used for camera) must be put to the side of the student showing his/her upper body, the student's arms and hands, as well as the primary device used to take the test.

   • The student will be given a ZERO mark if he/she does not open the camera during the exam.

   • Students must work independently and may not use their textbooks, notes, or receive help from an outside source.

   • Students are responsible for doing their own work during the test and for protecting their answers from being shared with others. If students are caught cheating during testing, their tests will be invalidated and they will be given a ZERO mark.

   • Students are responsible for accessing the examination paper for each subject as per the examination timetable.

   • Students must complete and SUBMIT their answers within the 60 minutes time frame allotted for the exam. A 5-minute window will be added at the end of the allotted time to complete submissions and upload of required files.

   • If the student submits his/her answers after the 5 minutes window, 20% of the exam mark will be deducted given that the submission does not exceed 5 minutes after minute 65.

   • If the student submits the exam after more than 10 minutes of the allotted time for the exam (60 minutes), the student will be given a ZERO mark for that exam.

   • In case a student faced technical difficulties that prevented him/her from following the above protocol, the student will be considered absent excused only for the first time. However, the student must send a screenshot showing clear evidence of the technical problem faced followed by an email from the parents explaining the incident. The problem must be addressed by the student, as the second time it occurs, the student will be considered absent unexcused.

4. Failure to abide by the testing protocols will result considering the student absent unexcused and will follow the absence policy of the school.

5. Absence Policy during Online Exams:

   • When students are absent for a test, they are permitted to be retested if they have a valid excuse that is accepted by the administration. The date and time of the test will be determined by the school administration.

   • Students who do not have a valid excuse will receive a grade of ZERO on the test.
