All teachers on continuing and term specific contracts in an active teaching role.
Teachers on leave and support staff are not eligible.
The replacement project is scheduled to begin immediately following Spring Break and wrapping it up by the end of May. This is dependent on the delivery of devices from our vendors. We anticipate being at each school for two to three days completing one school per week. Teachers will be notified well in advance as to the dates.
The laptops teachers currently have will be repurposed as TTOC computers in elementary and secondary schools. There may also be data (student information) on the laptops that needs to be secured. As a result laptops will not be available for purchase.
The laptops that teachers currently have will be repurposed as TTOC computers in elementary and secondary schools. Increasing the number of devices is also not sustainable for our IT department who support devices. As a result all laptops must be returned.
We realize that teachers may be attached to their laptops, especially when they are still functioning well, but they must be exchanged for a number of reasons:
To maintain a consistent and sustainable fleet of computers.
Although the new laptops may seem similar, they are a more current model
The new laptops warranty is current, and allows for better support should the laptop require repairs
Funds have been allocated as a part of this years budget. We can not ensure that funds will be available to replace laptops out side the refresh cycle.
We realize that there may be some personal use of laptops, but we encourage teachers not to store their personal photos, videos and documents on their district devices.
You may exchange the desktop for one of the laptop options, or a new desktop. Regardless of the choice, the current desktop computer wil be removed.
Although ITS can assist with transferring data, the process can be very time consuming and will require your current laptop as well as the new laptop for the day. We strongly recommend that files be backed up in advance. Below are some backup options with short video to walk you through the process:
Time Machine to Back up (Mac only) - Time Machine can also be used to backup files to an external drive, but we do not recommend a full restore from. Using a drag and drop method to restore files is recommended
Music that was purchased through an account will be accessible on the new device. Music that was copied over from any external device will need to be backed up
Bookmarks: Chrome or FireFox bookmarks must be exported, as well as any contacts and calendars if iCloud is not being used to sync (see below).
Bookmarks - if you use FireFox or Chrome (and are not signed in) you must export your bookmarks as they cannot be migrated automatically. See this doc for help https://goo.gl/poH1K8.
Calendar and Contacts - If you do not use iCloud to sync these you must export them
Reminders and Notes - If you do not use iCloud to sync these you must export them
Please note: there is always a small chance that data can be corrupted during the migration.
If a Lenovo Yoga 13 was selected as the replacement and your current device is a MacBook Air, please refer to these IMPORTANT instructions.
An active stylus will be provided to Math and Science teachers as it is required as an instructional tool to effectively utilize some software. The laptop will still function as a touch screen (similar to the current DELL Laptops) without an active stylus, and a regular stylus can still be used.
Please transfer any personal data (photos, videos, documents) to your own personal computer, and remove this data from the district computer. Teachers are also encouraged to backup work related data to an external drive, or to OneDrive. Please see "Will the data be transferred to my new laptop" above.

Yes. Teachers to whom the laptop will be assigned must be present at the time of the exchange, as they are required to enter login credentials during the set-up. The set up process can take about 30 minutes, during which time teachers must be present. Data transfer can take an additional one to two hours, but teachers are not required to be present during this process.
Please monitor your school's TEAMS channel and Outlook email. Your school's tecnology contact will also have information that they will share.
