Create Your Own Holiday!
Last week you had the chance to learn about different holidays that are being celebrated around the world! Now it’s your turn! Your task for this week is to create your own holiday! Look at the list provided to ensure everything is all information is covered and don't forget to complete the self checklist!
Learning Goal: Students will write an expository text to describe a new breed of animal he/she will create.
Success Criteria:
- I included 2 animals to create my hybrid
- I gave my hybrid a name, and it is also the title
- I included a topic sentence introducing my new animal
- I provided 2 interesting facts about each animal
- I provided 3 descriptions and accurately described each one
- My conclusion restates my topic using different words
- I provided a detailed sketch that includes colour
- I had a family member sketch the animal from my description
- I asked my family member what they found easy and difficult to understand
- I attached all drawings
- I revised my work for spelling, punctuation, and grammar
- I used full sentences
- My expository writing is in paragraph form
Learning Goal: We are learning to construct and sketch 3-D shapes
Success Criteria: WKWASW
We have created 3-D figures using different methods (paper cut outs, google drawings, etc)
We can sketch a 3-D figure from different views
We can draw the net of a 3-D figure

Prepare for Wednesday's launch of SPACEX's Dragon by watching an animation of the mission, learn about the Dragon Rocket, tour the launch pad, climb into a mock-up of the Crew Dragon capsule, immerse yourself in astronaut training and even practice docking the Crew Dragon capsule to the International Space Station, all on Google Classroom. Join Mr. Johnston on Wednesday at 4:20pm for a Google Meet to watch the first time astronauts have launched from North American since the space shuttle missions in 2011. Coverage begins on NASA TV shortly after 12pm if you'd like to get started early.
