Mental illness is common among teenagers. In fact, according to Healthline.com, about 40% of teens report having at least one, if not more than one, type of mental illness. You are not alone!
Depression is a constant feeling of sadness and loss of interest, which stops you doing your normal activities. About 20 percent of all teens experience depression, but only 30 percent of those teens are being treated for it.
Anxiety is a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome. About 30% of teens have some type of anxiety disorder.
Self-harm is the act of purposely hurting oneself (as by cutting or burning the skin) as an emotional coping mechanism. About 25% of teen girls and 10% of teen boys report harming themselves.
