Most of the characters in Romeo and Juliet can be split between the two families, the Montagues and the Capulets.

The Montagues

Romeo is the youngest son in the Montague family.

Lord Montague is Romeo's father and head of the Montague family.

Lady Montague is Romeo's mother and the lady of the household.

Benvolio is Romeo's cousin and loyal friend.

Mercutio is Romeo's best friend and a kinsman of the Prince.

Balthasar is Romeo's loyal servant.

Juliet is the youngest daughter in the Capulet family.

Lord Capulet is Juliet's father and the head of the Montague family.

Lady Capulet is Juliet's mother and the lady of the house.

Tybalt is Juliet's cousin and Lord Capulet's nephew.

The Nurse is Juliet's keeper and mentor who raised her from birth.

Friar Laurence is religious figure and a neutral party in the feud.
