Queen Elizabeth's Golden Age

The Elizabethan Era was considered the Golden Age in England's history, and it fell between the years of 1558 and 1603 during which Queen Elizabeth ruled. It was not named for her though, but for a Queen Elizabeth who came a few generations before her.

English Renaissance

The Elizabethan Era was considered part of the English Renaissance because of the plethora of poetry, art, music, and literature that flourished at that time.

Peaceful Period

The Era was peaceful compared to the Reformation battles in years prior and the Religious and Political battles in the years following.

Land of Plenty

During this Era, England was quite wealthy compared to its neighbors, which allowed for its people to spend their money on arts and entertainment like the theater.

Colonization

This was also Era in which England was expanding explorations across the globe and forming new colonies, often violently on the lands of native peoples, like the Americas.
