 Text Types and Purposes:

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.9-10.1

Write arguments to support claims in an analysis of substantive topics or texts, using valid reasoning and relevant and sufficient evidence.

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.9-10.1.A

Introduce precise claim(s), distinguish the claim(s) from alternate or opposing claims, and create an organization that establishes clear relationships among claim(s), counterclaims, reasons, and evidence.

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.9-10.1.B

Develop claim(s) and counterclaims fairly, supplying evidence for each while pointing out the strengths and limitations of both in a manner that anticipates the audience's knowledge level and concerns.

Monday:

Tuesday:

Start Entry Task

The class will review an example of a final draft, in  Google Classroom, and note the following key points:


  This citation consists of the author's last name(s), year of publication, and page number in parentheses at the end of the sentence. The period goes after the closed parenthesis. "This is a direct citation" (Chapman, 2019, p. 126)

sentence and a colon, and indented ten spaces.

Afterward, based on your outline, start your handwritten rough draft. Remember that the word count is between 500 and 600 words.

This rough draft will be due by the end of class next Wednesday, May 1st.

Next Wednesday, the 300-word checkup grade for the rough draft will be due. 

-Remember, this is a long-term project, with sections lasting for weeks. Missing one or two days still requires students to meet this deadline because so much buffer time is built in. Please be aware of this issue because the school year is rapidly dissipating. ☹️
