Track and Field Boosters?
by Bailey Eysaman
Central Valley Academy’s 2024 Track & Field season has come and gone. Our seniors attended senior night and were escorted by their family and announced by Doozer Smith. Central Valley Academy Track & Field is one of the only sports with no booster club or fundraising that would provide items like jackets, shirts or hoodies. The track team is open to 8th graders if they test up, and for any student who is in 9th - 12th grade. With the large number of students, there is more than ample opportunity for fundraising and money to be funded for our athletics. Track is a very team-oriented sport, but also fosters the independent athlete as well. We do have a “shop” that you can use to buy shirts, backpacks, or hoodies, but if we had the funding for the team, we could all have a free shirt to show how hard we work and it would recognize us for our dedication and drive. For the 2025 Track & Field season, I will be striving for a way for us to have more finances and to provide more representation for our team and the sport as a whole.
Bathroom Closures at CVA
by Julia Llewellyn
Usually towards the end of the school year bathrooms are being closed due to students misusing them, and this year was no exception. During this annual occurrence both students and teachers are annoyed about the issue. This year the problem was vapes being flushed down toilets, thus resulting in all but the cafeteria bathroom being shut down. The further walks to the bathroom have students annoyed because nobody wants to walk all the way to the cafeteria to use the bathroom and this takes class time away from both students and teachers. Having fewer bathrooms may limit vaping in school, but it also interrupts everyone's day. To resolve the issue the school needs to work together as a whole to keep bathrooms open. We all share the responsibility of keeping the school a clean and functional environment.
