Ms. Ruff: Exceeding Expectations
by Sammie Helmer, Hailey Sipes, & Morgan Russo
On January 26th, 2023, Mrs. Ruff’s Advanced Placement Global History Class had the privilege of gathering to celebrate the diversity and advancement of our modern world. After being divided into 3 equal teams, Mrs.Ruff provided each with an economic system prominently seen throughout history. Studying international affairs for the past 2 years prepared these students with adequate information to fuel their debate. For the next several hours this group of talented young students debated the pros and cons of each economic system and proposed why the system assigned to their team would sustain a modern society. These systems included but were not limited to the ideologies of communism, socialism, and capitalism.
After hours of hard work and debate, Mrs. Ruff’s students were exhausted, which prompted a new idea. What’s better than enjoying food from our world’s capitals and learning about them at the same time? Mrs. Ruff put in hard work and preparation for the spread she provided to her star pupils. She let them enjoy food from places such as Sweden, England, Germany, Bavaria, France, and Italy. Mrs. Ruff made them delicious treats such as British Tea, Apple Pie, Swedish Coffee, German Chocolate Cake, Bavaria Black Forest Cake, French Cream Puffs, and Italian Canolis.
In the end, these advanced students took time out of their winter break to enjoy each other's company, learn about the economic systems of our world, and explore the palettes of famous locations!
