Mr. Mauro... the Master Behind the Bistro
by Danielle Almond & Cecelia Mower
We conducted an interview with Mr. Mauro about the new CVA Bistro. Since Mr. Mauro’s arrival last year, he’s been a great addition to CVA. Just this year he created the CVA Thunder Bistro. Many students appreciate Mr. Mauro and all he contributes to the school, and they love the bistro. The addition of the bistro has changed the environment of the school and has overall had a positive impact. We asked Mr. Mauro eight questions and he gave his insightful responses.
First, we asked, “What inspired the bistro?”
He said, “The cafeteria staff and I had a vision, and we wanted to be different from other schools and have affordable prices.”
Next we asked what preparation goes into making the food before serving it?
Mauro explained, “It takes many hours and fresh ingredients. An hour and a half goes into each item.”
Then we asked what items he recommends to the students?
He told us that the chicken parm panini and personal pan pizzas seem to be a favorite among students.
Our fifth question was how did he come up with his recipes?
He replied, “Practice and trial and error.”
Next, we asked Mr. Mauro what items he’d like to add to the menu?
He said that soon he'd like to include Mexican rice balls.
We then had to ask if he’s overwhelmed by the extra work the bistro requires?
He said, “It’s a lot of work, and four schools are hard to manage. There’s a lot of responsibility.”
Finally we asked what are his future hopes for the Thunder Bistro?
He responded, “I hope to still be involved with the making of dishes. And I also hope that each student will have the opportunity to experience the bistro.”
Mr. Mauro clearly puts in a lot of work to give the privilege of the bistro to the students. He cares a lot about the bistro and even more about the students. Finally, we thank Mr. Mauro for taking the time to answer our questions despite his busy schedule. We really do appreciate all the work he puts in and what he does for us.
