My name is Trevor Holden and I was a 2022 Central Valley graduate. Last year I went to Herkimer BOCES for the Heavy Equipment Program, and that helped me drastically. Since I graduated, I have been working in construction for various different companies. Daily I operate equipment and plan to plow this coming winter.
I am currently going to school to obtain my CDL, which is a Commercial Driver's License. I need it to operate and work in certain construction fields and perform various jobs on-site. I’m doing a program through Sage Truck Driving School in Rome. I went to classes in person for a week, had a week of testing, and am now driving with a trainer to practice before my official road test, which is coming up soon. I feel the Heavy Equipment Program changed my future. I know for a fact without that program I would not be in the same position and as successful as I am today. I am very glad I took advantage of the program at Herkimer Boces. I plan on continuing to work in the field of construction for a very large portion of my future.
My advice for future graduates would be to take advantage of everything Central Valley has to offer. We are all very lucky to have all these opportunities, and I wish more students took advantage of them. Take the hard classes, go to club meetings, and go to all the sporting events you can. One day you’ll miss it.
