An Interview with Mr. Micheal Maiorano, Central Valley’s Cafe Manager
by Gracie Hall
Mr. Micheal Maiorano is the new Cafe Manager of Central Valley Academy. Interviewing Mr. Maiorano helped me understand the work that goes on behind the scenes that keeps our school running. Working and leading the cafeteria of the school is no ordinary job. It requires someone with great leadership skills who can run the part of the school responsible for feeding hundreds of students every day. Being able to feed that many students with different tastes in food requires some diligent thinking. Luckily, Mr. Maiorano’s favorite part of his job is the staff he works with and the students that come to eat in the cafeteria and at the Bistro (which has only been active for around a year). According to Mr. Maiorano, he has inherited an excellent program that he doesn’t believe needs any immediate changes. This shows how well the cafeteria staff works to keep the cafeteria in such good shape and keep it running smoothly. However, despite the excellent remarks Mr. Maiorano made about the cafeteria, he still looks forward to new and expanding ideas that he has to even better improve our already great cafeteria.
With Mr. Maiorano’s 35 years of experience in the culinary field, he must have some amazing ideas to elevate how the cafeteria runs and what it will have to offer in the future. Each day Mr. Maiorano starts work at an early time of 6:30 AM before the students arrive. Organization is essential for him to keep his day on track and to run efficiently. His day is filled with meetings and deliveries, so organizing his day must make the hours he spends at Central Valley Academy less stressful. Each day may come with an obstacle or two for Mr. Maiorano, but he overcomes them. However, despite the obstacles, working at Central Valley Academy for him is great with the state-of-the-art facilities and the atmosphere that he describes as “ELECTRIC!”
