Important Safety Protocol

Safety protocols in a makerspace or workshop are crucial to prevent accidents and injuries, ensuring a secure environment for all users. They help in maintaining equipment properly, reducing the risk of malfunctions and extending the life of tools and machinery. Moreover, safety protocols foster a culture of responsibility and awareness, encouraging users to prioritize safety in all their activities.  In this section we will review the general safety rules for the Innovation Lab as well as other maker spaces throughout the school.  First we will review the key rules for the lab:

General Safety Rules

1.  Always conduct yourself in a Safe and Professional Manner

2.  Always Wear Appropriate Clothing and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

3.  Keep the Workspace Clean and Organized

4.  Know the Location of Emergency Equipment

5.  Only use Tools and Machines if you have been properly Trained to use them.

6.  Keep all Tools and Machines in good condition with regular maintenance.

7.  Report all accidents, injuries, broken tools, broken machines or other unsafe conditions to a Mentor or Teacher as soon as possible.
