Which toilet paper brand is the strongest,Cottenelle or Charmin?

If i put a heavy object on both charmin and cottenelle toilet paper , then charmin will break first.

• 4 sheets of cottonelle toilet paper

• 4 sheets of Charmin toilet paper

• 50 quarters( per brand)

• 3 people to be able to hold the different sheets of toilet paper and 1 to place the coins.

• 2 lead weights per brand

• 1. Gather the materials listed above

• 2. Have 1 person grab the cottonelle toilet paper by the edges above your surface. The sheets should not be folded. ( you can buy the cottonelle toilet paper at your local walgreens.)

• 3. Have your second person do the same but with the charmin and not the cottonelle.you can buy the charmin toilet paper at any pharmacy.( walgreens, cvs, etc.)

• 4. Now that you have chramin in one person's hand and cottonelle in another person's hand you will now bring in your third and last person.

• 5. The 3rd and last person will now add the 2 lead weights and 30 of the coins gently onto each person's toilet paper . Make sure you add the coins gently and at the same time for both toilet papers so it will be fair and accurate .

• 6. Now you will see which toilet paper will rip first.

• 7. If none of the toilet paper brands are breaking yet wait 20 seconds then add your last 20 coins per toilet paper .

• 8. When one breaks remember to observe and record your data

• 9. Repeat procedures 1 -7 2 more times so then you have 3 trials.

Dependent Variable: Different toilet paper brands . Charmin and cottonelle.

Independent Variable :The strength or the ability to break.

Constant : Amount of coins, same type of coins ( quarters ) , and same amount of toilet paper.

Which toilet paper is the strongest? Cottonelle or Charmin. My hypothesis was that cottonelle would hold more coins then charmin would. How I found this hypothesis was that I researched on many different websites and it said cottonelle would last longer. My results had indicated that my hypothesis was incorrect. Now because of my results , I wonder if there are more brands of toilet paper that are stronger than the winning toilet paper in my experiment , Charmin. If I could conduct this experiment again i would observe my toilet paper before i make my hypothesis because if you look at the cottonelle toilet paper there is just a little bit of transparency and I would also add more brands of toilet paper.

Which toilet paper is the strongest ? Cottonelle or Charmin. The purpose of my project was to find which toilet paper is the strongest. My hypothesis was incorrect because I thought cottonelle would last longer but charmin did. Charmin had forty three coins and two lead weights before the toilet paper broke and cottonelle had twenty five coins and two leads before breaking so therefore my hypothesis was incorrect.

Both brands of toilet paper were held the same way with the same amount of sheets (which was four). They both held two lead weights so Istarted to add the same type of coin a quarter. Cottonelle broke first with twenty five coins and two leads . Charmin held forty three quarters and two leads. Charmin toilet paper held the most amount of weights so therefore Charmin is stronger.

First, I gathered my materials . Then, I had my two people hold the different brands of toilet paper. The third person will place the coins on top of the toilet paper until one breaks. Lastly you have to observe and record the data and repeat this two more times to complete three trials. The data I observed was that the cottonelle toilet paper broke after applying twenty five quarters and two lead weights ,and the charmin toilet paper broke after placing forty three coins and two lead weights. Charmin held eighteen more coins than cottonelle had before breaking.

A major finding that I found was that Charmin is

much stronger than cottonelle toilet paper . Another major

finding was that cottonelle broke in the middle of the four

sheets and charmin broke on the sheet closest to your

hands. A possible reason for these results was that if you

look at cottonelle toilet paper it is more see through which

charmin you cannot see through it so it must mean that

cottonelle is thinner. These findings can be used in your day

to day life because if you're in the bathroom you do not

want your toilet paper to break in your hand.

My findings can be used in day to day life because now you know that you should use charmin toilet paper instead of cottonelle to wipe. You could use this information because every day you go to the bathroom so know you know if you use charmin there is less of a chance of breaking. This is helpful because you do not see these types of studies that often so now you know to buy charmin instead of Cottonelle.
