If i add soil to water will it change the pH of water?
If i pour soil into a cup of water, then the pH of the water will become acidic.
Measuring cups
1 cup of water
3 teaspoons of soil.
pH strips
a cup to do the experiment in
I will pour 1 cup of water into a cup.
I will test the pH of it first
I will write the pH of it down
I will then add 3 teaspoons of soil then let it dissolve into the water
I will test the pH of it again
I will write all this information down.
Dependent Variable- The depentent variable is the pH of water because it is changing the result of the amount of soil being changed.
Independent Variable- The amount of soil is the independent variable because i am controlling its change to get a result which is how soil affects the pH of water.
Constant- The amount of water and the three cups of water is a constant.

Control- Water without soil is my control.
This is all the information you collected in your experiment. Here you will place your pictures and graphs.

At the end of this project i learned that its not good to drink soil water and i learned a lot about soil. i really enjoyed this project and learned so much from it. i think it helped me remember all kinds of stuff of soil all over again. After i finished this project i got all my information and pit it together.
How bad does soil affect water? My hypothesis for this experiment was “if I
add soil to water, then it will become acidic.” My hypothesis was correct
because the soil turned the water acidic when originally the tap water was alkaline. When I read about how soil affected water I was interested in testing it. While doing this experiment I learned how important it is to drink regular water. This experiment taught me a lot and I'm happy about it.
The purpose of this experiment was to see if soil can affect water’s pH. If I add soil to water, then the water's pH will become acidic. My hypothesis was correct because when you add soil to water, it will affect the water and make it acidic. This project was conducted to see how badly soil affected the pH of water and if the pH of the water would become acidic or alkaline. I tested this experiment by using measuring cups/spoons, soil, water, and pH strips. The results were that the soil made the pH of the water closer acidic (a 5). I realized that any water with soil in it probably has bacteria. During this experiment, I noticed how the pH of the tap water I was testing was alkaline. After I added soil to the tap water, it became quite acidic. In my opinion I Think that no one should drink dirty water or “soil water”, According to https://www.soil-net.com/legacy/schools/soil_water.htm. I think no one should ever drink soil water because you can get very sick and can end up with a bad disease. This project helped me learn all kinds of stuff, like the difference between alkaline and acidic, how badly soil affects water, how important it is to always drink clean water; etc. From now on, now I know what water is good for me and what is not. This experiment was really fun to test although I wouldn't test this again because i already have my experiment results.

Soil/water can be used to water or plant plants. Something else that could be useful in life are pH Strips. You can use them to test your saliva pH, pH of drinks, etc. if you're ever lost and don't have water, pH Strips could kind of be useful if you find the closest water pile or lake and test the pH of it to see if you can drink it or not.
A website that helped me during this project was https://youshouldgrow.com/harmful-bacteria-in-soil/ because it helped me understand the risks of drinking soil water and it gave me information that I needed to know for this project. Another website I used was https://www.soils.org/about-soils. I used this website because it told me what soil was and about it. I find both these websites very useful and helpful. If i ever have another project and its about soil, I will definitely use these websites.
I would like to thank, my teacher, Mrs. Castillo for helping me when I needed it during this project. My parents for helping me fix some of my grammar issues I didn't notice. I would also like to thank some of my classmates for helping me when I needed something during this project.
