School Year Data: 2021 - 2022
Psychologist Led Yearly Evaluations
--> Of the initial evaluations completed last year, 92.5% resulted in a finding of disability. Of students being re-evaluated, 96.5% were found to continue to qualify for services.
Number of Initial vs. Re-evaluations per Month
The number of 'initial evaluations' includes both preschool and school-age cases.
In the months at the beginning and end of the school year, preschool initial evaluations occur more often than school age initial evaluations.
As shown here, these are also the only months of the year in which initial evaluations outnumber re-evaluations. The rest of the school year, re-evaluations definitely take the lead.
Disability Category Frequency
Most prevalent disabilities:
SLD (Specific Learning Disability) = 1033
AU (Autism) = 659
OHI minor (Other Health Impairment, minor) = 643
Intellectual Disability (ID) = 245
Emotional Disturbance (ED) = 229
Developmental Delay (DD - preschool only category) = 206
In a notable change from last year, the frequency of autism eligibility increased from third to second most common category, displacing OHI minor.
It should also be noted that our data do not include evaluations conducted primarily by Speech/Language Pathologists (vs. School Psychologists). Therefore the number of students in the district receiving services for Speech and Language Impairments (SLI) is certainly higher than what is demonstrated here.
