Students can elect to complete any number of Technology subjects described below. Technology subjects run on a two year cycle allowing students to choose from two Wood and two Metal subjects each year.
Subjects offered in both cycles
Automotive (AUTO)
Cycle 1 Subjects (2025)
Wood Technology - That's Environmentally Friendly (WTENV)
Wood Technology - Upcycling (WTUP)
Metal Technology - Redesign Projects (MTRP)
Metal Technology - Upcycling (MTUP)
Cycle 2 Subjects (2026)
Wood Technology - Chairs, Clocks & Outdoor Stuff (WTCCOS)
Wood Technology - Storage & Cabinets (WTSC)
Metal Technology - Outdoor & Camping (MTOC)
Metal Technology - Handyman Package (MTHP)
Year 9&10 Technology (Wood/Metal/Auto) - Subject offerings for 2025
9/10 Automotive runs in both Semesters and both years (Cycle 1 & Cycle 2). Students are able to select the subject multiple times and if so will be provided with an extended program to build on skills developed previously.
Areas of study
How can we maintain a safe working environment?
How do engines work
What are the process for disassembling, assembling and completing maintenance on small engines
Learning program & assessment:
Student online training in the safe operation of hand tools, portable power equipment and static machinery.
Students study the internal workings of small combustion engines
Students have an opportunity to disassemble & reassemble an engine
Student observe and/or undertake routine maintenance of vehicles
Assessment is both practical & theoretical and is based on the ability to observe and follow OHS rules in the workshop, dissemble an engine and identify its component parts & conduct routine maintenance
