Learning program & assessment:
Students develop a design brief researching current design concepts.
Students understand the concept of team work.
Students use safe operational procedures to generate and manufacture a new product.
Areas of study
How do we design and manufacture so as to have positive impacts in relation to access, usability and equity.
How do we investigate and critique products using the factors that influence design?
How are designers and end users are influenced by culture.
Learning program & assessment:
use criteria to evaluate processes used to develop product concepts and final proof of concept and make a finished product
Students identify cultural influences on product design including those of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
Students use safe operational procedures to generate and manufacture a new product.

How do we carry out research in an ethical and sustainable manner?
How are products developed in Industrial settings?
How do we develop a prototype that is fit for purpose?
Learning program & assessment:
Students identify sustainable and ethical design practices and processes
Students use computer aided design, computer aide manufacturing and emerging technologies to better design and manufacture their product
Students use a wide variety of tools and process to safely manufacture their product
Areas of study
How do we undertake ethical research and engage with end users in a sustainable manner?
How can we safely manufacture our designed product whilst ensuring time and financial constraints are met?
How do we collect, and analyse data?
Learning program & assessment:
Students complete a written exam comparing similar retail products and document the outcomes, giving reasons for their decision.
A folio of work and a constructed item that meets the end users’ requirements
Students assess a completed product against their predetermined evaluation criteria
