The information below is a brief summary of areas of study and learning program only, for more detailed information please access the VCAA VCE Product Design & Technology Study Design using the link below.
Areas of study
What influences psychological development?
How are mental processes and behaviour influenced by the brain?
How does contemporary psychology conduct and validate psychological research?
Learning program & assessment:
The learning program is mostly theory with a practical investigation whereby students will identify, analyse and evaluate the evidence to answer a research question relating to contemporary psychology.
The students create a log book of activities including experiments, media responses, drawing/photos, diagrams and evaluations to demonstrate their understanding of the study design.
This unit provides a number of foundations for Units 3/4 and comprises of two content SAC’s and one research poster.
Areas of study
How are people influenced to behave in particular ways?
What influences a person’s perception of the world?
How do scientific investigations develop understanding of influences on perception and behaviour?
Learning program & assessment:
The learning program is mostly theory with a practical investigation whereby students adapt or design and then conduct a scientific investigation into the internal or external influence on perception and/or behaviour.
The students create a log book of activities including experiments, media responses, drawing/photos, diagrams and evaluations to demonstrate their understanding of the study design.
This unit has three SAC’s, two on the content and one research poster.
Areas of study
How does the nervous system enable psychological functioning?
How do people learn and remember?
Learning program & assessment:
The learning program is theory based, students will use Edrolo to support their learning program at school and in the classroom participate in activities to apply the learning.
In addition to the class tasks, students create a log book of activities including experiments, media responses, drawing/photos, diagrams and evaluations to demonstrate their understanding of the study design.
This unit improves student understanding on how to encode, store and retrieve learning. These skills and knowledge are beneficial to all units of year 12 and assist students in being successful life long learners within their future pathways.
Areas of study
How does sleep affect mental processes and behaviour?
What influences mental wellbeing?
How is scientific inquiry used to investigate mental processes and psychological functioning?
Learning program & assessment:
The learning program is theory based, students will use Edrolo to support their learning program at school and in the classroom participate in activities to apply the learning.
In addition to the class tasks, students create a log book of activities including experiments, media responses, drawing/photos, diagrams and evaluations to demonstrate their understanding of the study design.
They key foci of ‘the importance of sleep’ and ‘looking after mental health from a biospychosocial perspective’ assist students within all aspects of their lives and provide them tools to gain the most out of themselves.
