Students can elect to complete any number of Food Technology subjects described below. Food Technology subjects run on a two year cycle allowing students to choose from four separate semester length subjects over two years.

What are the functions of equipment and ingredients in food preparation?
How do foods differ between countries and cultures?
Learning program & assessment:
Students will complete a test on OH&S in the kitchen and general knowledge about the kitchen and it’s functions
Students will investigate a cuisine from a country around the world and present their findings
Students will be given a recipe, they will work out a production plan then prepare and present the recipe in a prac class

How does the seasonal availability of different fresh foods impact meal planning?

Students will complete a test on OH&S in the kitchen and general knowledge about the kitchen and it’s functions
Students will investigate a new type of kitchen equipment and present their findings
Students will be given a recipe, they will work out a production plan then prepare and present the recipe in a prac class

Students will complete a test on OH&S in the kitchen and general knowledge about the kitchen and it’s functions
Students will investigate what foods are prepared in cafes and how cafes are set up and present their findings
Students will be given a recipe, they will work out a production plan then prepare and present the recipe in a prac class

What are healthy and nutritious family meals and why are they important?
How do we select the most appropriate meals for different times of the day / meal times?

Students will investigate a celebration and present their findings
Students will be given a recipe, they will work out a production plan then prepare and present the recipe in a prac class
