Hello Families,
It was nice to have a beautiful day on Saturday before the rain and wind came. I hope everyone got to enjoy it!
We are on the home stretch in Kindergarten! At the end of the month on May 29th our new kindergarten students will be visiting the school. On that day there will be no school for our current kindergarten students.
Today we began a space theme. We are transforming our kitchen into a space station. The children are excited to learn about the solar system. They have been asking for a while. We are in the process of making a ground control switch board. If you have any bottle covers in different colors, old Cd's or anything else we could add please send them in.
Here is an example of what we want to make.
Literacy: We are moving into week 3 of Unit 4. This week we will be focusing on the ck sound at the end of words. I am sending home a sheet with two sentences for students to read. Later in the week I will be adding a new story to the white folder. Please make sure that the white folder comes back daily. As I work with groups I will add the new story. I should have all groups finished by Thursday.
Math: We continue to reviews ways to make numbers up to 10 and lots of opportunities to count objects to 10. At home you could use an egg carton and cup of two of the cups to make a 10 frame. Roll a die to fill in the cups with small objects. Ask student how many more do you need to fill the whole 10 frame.
