Hello Everyone!
The first two days were a whirlwind but I think everyone is settling in well. There were lots of smiles throughout the two days. We have been learning lots of new routines and building new friendships as we get to know each other. In the afternoon on the first day we explored with some math manipulatives that we will use throughout the year. On Friday, students drew a picture of themselves and coloured a picture to add to their portfolios. We practiced a fire drill and had our first phys.ed and library classes!
In the coming week, we will continue learning about the rules and routines in our classroom and we will focus a lot on recognizing our names and the names of our classmates. I will be sending home a sheet to practice writing their names for homework next week.
Here's what's happening in our classroom this week.
Music - Monday, Wednesday Friday
Phys ed- Tuesday and Thursday
This year elementary students will have 3 extra 1/2 hour blocks of specialist classes outside of the classroom. One with our music teacher Mrs. MacDonald and two with our librarian Ms. Amy. In these specialist classes they will be focusing on Social Emotional Learning.
Meet the Teacher: You're invited to come into our classroom on September 17th from 6-6:15. This is a great chance to see your child's classroom and meet some other parents! I will give an over view of what we will be learning and our class schedule. We will have individual interviews in November.
Hot lunches: Our hotlunch program will begin on Monday. These orders need to be in by 9pm Sunday.
Here is the website to register and order

The provincial program will also begin on Monday if you have ordered.
Microwave: I do have a microwave up and running. It is important to just send things that will only need 30 seconds to heat up. KD cups and frozen dinners take too long to heat up and students won't have enough time to eat. Also I am not able to heat up the mini lunchable pizzas. It is just too messy for them to build at their table and then they don't have anything to put them in to put in the microwave. We have our specialist classes right after lunch period so many times students will start to eat their lunch before specialist and finish when we return.
Breakfast Program: Our breakfast program starts Monday. It is open to all students. Breakfast is available between 8:00-8:25.
Dates to remember:
September 17th Meet the Teacher
September 30th (National Day for Truth and Reconciliation)
Have a great week!
Julie
The first two days were busy but I got a chance to snap a few pictures.
