Here are some quick ideas for Book Character day. 

Hi everyone,

Wow that was a cold weekend! I hope everyone stayed warm! It sounds like we are in for a messy start to the week so check social media or listen to the radio tomorrow morning for updates. We will be celebrating Family Literacy Week this week. A few activities to take note of. Wednesday will be Dress as your favourite book character day. If you don't have time to get something ready I'll have a few popular character headbands that they can colour and wear. Friday will be school wide pj day. Bring your favourite book to school and we will talk about why they are your favourite and if you would recommend them to a friend to read.

In Fundations, we are a little behind in introducing our uppercase letters because of the storm day last Monday. We will catch up by introducing 3 a day instead of two. Continue to practice printing at home.

In writing. we are stepping into book making with our procedural (How to) writing. We started with How to Make Hot Chocolate on Friday. The students had a great time making real hot chocolate then they started to write about how they did it. We will finish this writing up this week and then students will pick their own topics to write about. We start our sentences with the words, First, Next, Then and Last. 

In math, we are beginning to work on the number 9. There are still a lot of reversals of numbers when writing so it would be benefical to practice printing the numbers to 9 as you work on printing the letters.
