March 9th-13th

Hello Everyone,

Thank you to everyone who made the time to come and chat about your students progress. I love sharing all the good things they are doing. Time lines are due back on Monday if you could take a few minutes to fill those out this weekend. Also Early Closure forms are due back as well. You filled one out in the fall but we are just updating incase anything changed. The office had a lot of confusion on the last early closure day. Also if you haven't yet can you send along a picutre of your family to add to our family wall.

Literacy:

This week we are starting week 4 in Fundations. Our new trick words for this week are is and his. We will continue to work on tapping and blending to read words. This week students will come home with the words from a book we read together in small groups called Rat Ran. We have read it a few times. Students should be able to read it with out tapping but please encourage them to do so if they need to.

Science:  We are beginning to learn about the 5 senses. We will introduce each sense and do some fun exploring with each of the senses.

In math, we are working on before and after, counting groups of items and recognizing a group of items quickly without counting (this is called subitizing) as well as comparing and measuring objects.

This week we will also throw in some St. Patrick's Day fun!
