Hello Everyone,
I hope everyone had a nice weekend. The weather was beautiful.
Tomorrow we will acknowledge Orange Shirt Day and the reason we wear orange shirts on this day in kid friendly language. We will listen to a book written by Phyllis Webstad the founder of Orange Shirt day. She has written several different books to include learning at all levels. Here is a link to the story we will watch.

At the end of the day Monday we will be having our Bus Evacuation drill. Student who don't travel on the bus will do it at 9 am in the morning.
Literacy
Fundations is off to a great start. We will continue to review the sounds /t/ /b/ /f/ /m/ and /n/ during our Drill Sounds work out and we will introduce the letters /i/ and /u/ this week. These are our first vowel sounds and I will start to show the children how we can blend sounds together to make words. We will introduce print awareness by talking about how many words are in a sentence and matching them to each word. We will talk about how periods end a sentences. Through storytelling we will review Characters, Setting, Problem and Solution. We will also touch on how feelings can change.
Numeracy
We will continue exploring numbers to 5, counting sets and comparing which groups have more/less/the same. We will focus on learning to print the number 4.
