Hello Everyone!
Literacy- In fundations, we will be focusing on letters s and d. We will also continue to talk about rhyming, syllables and how many words in a spoken sentence. The students have started an illustration unit in writing. We are working on learning how to draw objects that they may want to use in their writing. Some students are beginning to use environmental print around the room to add to their pictures. The new word for the week is is.
Numeracy- We will continue to count to make groups up to 5. We will talk about all the combinations to to make 5. Here are a few suggestions to work on numeracy at home.
Numbers in the store- have your child look for numerals 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 in the store (aisle numbers, price numbers, numbers on the cash registers.
Count the objects- Ask your child to show you a set of objects that make number 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. How can you show me 5? Have a variety of small objects like buttons, paper clips or coins that your child can use.
Count in the Kitchen- Count the number of dishes and other things you place on the table. How many glasses do you need? How many forks?
Halloween- Students are welcome to dress up on the 31st. Please keep masks and pretend weapons at home.
