Cross Country

The cross country season has been an outstanding success for our athletes this term. Over the course of the six meets, our team demonstrated unwavering commitment and showcased remarkable results, with many of our runners coming in the top ten on a weekly basis.

Behind the scenes, our practices focused on improving essential skills, including strength, speed, endurance, and strategic race tactics. Through weekly training, our athletes increased their fitness, enhancing their overall performance on the challenging cross country courses across Pietermaritzburg and the Midlands.

It was great to watch as the collective efforts of our junior and senior runners resulted in both individual triumphs and remarkable team accomplishments. Our captains, Iva Kahlan Buratovich and Lindokuhle Nene, led with determination and exemplary leadership. Wonderful spirit was fostered as the senior team members took the time to warm up each age group, and the children encouraged each other, as well as friends from other schools, by cheering them on at the finish line.

We were proud to host the final meet on our beautiful campus, transforming our home ground into a testament of grit and determination as they headed for up the hill, led by our Clifton ponies. Throughout the season, each runner consistently gave their best, pushing their limits with every stride. Their unwavering dedication and relentless training translated into remarkable achievements and lots of personal growth for each child.

It was wonderful to see the spirit in which our Interhouse cross country took place before half term. Runners from Grade 1 to 7 all competed, giving their best to contribute to their house points. Hopefully this taste of time in the mountains will motivate them to join the team next year!

We will look back on this season with gratitude for our beautiful surroundings as well as good health and friendships. A reminder to us all of the power of training as a team, showing determination, and putting in the hard work.

Congratulations to our remarkable athletes and thank you to all who supported and cheered us on along the way.
