Learning About Judaism – Our Dreidel Fun
🎉
In RME, we have been learning about the world religion of Judaism. Our learning intention was to find out about Jewish artefacts and why they are important in worship. We can now name some Jewish artefacts, like the menorah , Torah Scroll and dreidal . We also know that Jewish people worship in a synagogue.
To help us understand more, we made our own dreidels and played the dreidel game! It was so much fun learning how it is played during Hanukkah and what the Hebrew letters mean.
While doing this, we used lots of meta-skills like:
🖍 Creativity –designing and decorating our dreidels
🧩 Critical Thinking – learning and following the game rules
🤝 Collaboration – playing together and taking turns
This learning links to UNCRC Article 30, which says we all have the right to learn about our own and other people’s cultures and religions. It also connects to Global Goal 4: Quality Education, as we learn to understand and respect different beliefs around the world. 🌍
P5 Restart a Heart 🫀🐻
Yesterday, P5 took part in the Restart a Heart live lesson. We learned why CPR is such an important skill and how it can help to save someone’s life. To make it fun and safe to practise, everyone brought in their own teddy to try chest compressions on – the teddies were brilliant patients! 🐻
By taking part, we were also building some really important meta-skills, like:
Teamwork – working together and helping each other
Communication – listening carefully and sharing our ideas
Resilience – keeping going even when something is tricky
Initiative – being ready to take action if someone needs help
This lesson also links to our rights such as: Article 6: The right to life and survival and Article 24: The right to good health and health education.
It connects to the Global Goals we’ve been learning about, especially: Goal 3 – Good Health and Wellbeing and Goal 4 – Quality Education
Well done, P5 – you showed amazing focus and care while learning this life-saving skill! Rememebr 'YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!'
To conclude our block of learning, focusing on skills such as dribbling, passing, aiming and scoring we put all these skills into practice in a mini football tournament! P5 also showed strength and development in the meta-skills of communication, collaborating, adapting and focusing. Our learning is linked to UNCRC Article 31 (the right to play) Article 24 (health) Article 28 and 29 (Education). Global Goals 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing) and 4 (Quality Education).
In PE we are learning about different skills in football, specifically dribbling and passing. These skills help us control the ball, work well with our teammates, and improve our overall game performance.
We were practicing these skills through various drills and activities that focused on improving accuracy, speed, and control. We then applied these skills in a conditioned game to experience using them in a more realistic,game/ match-like situation.
When doing this task, we used metaskills of collaborating/teamwork, communication, critical thinking, and self-reflection. These metaskills helped us coordinate with teammates, make quick choices during the game, and evaluate our own performance and next steps on how we can improve.
Our learning is linked to UNCRC Article 31 (the right to play) Article 24 (health) Article 28 and 29 (Education). Global Goals 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing) and 4 (Quality Education).
Primary 5 have been super! Well done everyone!
