Climate Justice! We worked with Primary 7 to create posters about Climate Justice and what it means to us. We were very lucky to have two of our pieces selected to be sent to Westminster to be displayed. Our local MSP Drew Hendry came in to visit us and talk to us about our artwork and Climate Justice.
Over Term 1 and 2 we were learning all about the Scottish Wars of Independence. We learnt a lot about Castle as they played a vital role in Wars. Many Castles were captured by the English and recaptured by the Scottish. We worked with Primary 7 to create our own Medieval Castles, they are fantastic!
Christmas Show- The whole school did an amazing job of this year's Christmas show; Lights, Camel Action! P6/7 did a fantastic Tango as the Inn-keepers of Bethlehem.
Christmas Party! Primary 6/7 and Primary 7 all had a great time at their Christmas Party.
Basketball!
We have been improving our skills in Basketball over the last couple of weeks. I have been very impressed to see how the class have improved. They used their skills in passing and dribbling in a conditioned game. They all focused really well during their games, made good use of space on the court and passed to everyone in the team. Well done P6/7!
Dear Parents, Guardians and Pupils,
Welcome to a new year. Primary 6/7 had a fantastic first day! There is plenty of hard work ahead of us and lots to look forward to. I have put together some information on aspects of Primary 6/7 and what is expected of the pupils.
Homework
Homework will normally be given out on a Thursday/Friday and will be due in the following Thursday.
Pupils should
complete all homework on time
ask their parent/guardian or teacher for help
before their homework is due in (Thursday is too late)
not get stressed or upset if they do not understand something – ask for help :)
in exceptional circumstances where homework
cannot be completed a signed and dated note from the responsible adult should be handed to the teacher as soon as possible
Check list
- each time you complete homework you should check that you can answer YES to all these statements
I have done my very best work
My work is neat, legible and I have used my best handwriting
I have numbered and spaced out my work as required
I have read over my work and checked that I have answered all of the questions to the best of my ability
I have asked a parent/carer to sign my jotter or homework forecast grid.
I am proud of my effort and work
Primary 6/7 will be given some of these, if not most activities each week;
· Mental Maths activity
· Maths activity (this is linked to what we are working on in class)
· Reading
· Spelling
· Language activities linked with spelling
· Other Curricular Topic/task
A homework forecast will be given out every 4 weeks. It will clearly display which homework has been set and given out for the week beginning e.g 21st of August. This is also to help your child plan ahead.All homework must be signed for by an adult, preferably on their forecast homework grid in each box and handed in on Thursday.
PE
P.E will be on a Wednesday and Friday. All pupils will need to come appropriately dressed on the day for PE or have with them a change of clothes. Please make sure your child has indoor shoes, as we head into the autumn/winter months we will be using the hall for PE. This will help keep the floors clean and provide your child with supportive footwear while taking part in PE activities indoors.
Dress Code
A reminder the school dress code is as follows;
· Black/grey/navy trousers/skirt/pinafore
· Black/Blue school sweatshirt
· White school polo shirt
· A change of footwear
· Shoe bag- this will help us avoid the mix up of shoes and keep our cloakroom tidy.
Google Classroom/Muirtown Website
Please keep an eye on the Muirtown Website and our P6/7 page, I keep this updated with photos and videos of what has been happening in our classroom. Likewise with the Google Classroom, I will keep this populated with any reminders and things that are happening.
Chromebooks
P6 will be provided with a Chromebook and charger. We ask kindly that you invest in a Chromebook case to keep them safe, especially as they take them between home and school. The size of Chromebook case required is 11.6 inches. We ask that they are charged at home at night so they are ready to use in class the following day. Please take the time to look over and discuss with your child the Chromebook agreement, sign and return it to the school by Friday 18th of August.
Thank you for taking the time to read the information provided, I look forward to working with you all this year. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at the school or by email;
