Higher Education

For many students the goal for the next two years is to gain entry to a good university to study a course that they are interested in. The number of courses is huge so we have various resources that help students with their decisions.

To help students decide which courses they might like to study at university we offer the opportunity for students to use the online resources from Morrisby to enter a range of interests that they have, along with their A Level subjects, and they will be given a list of possible degree courses to consider. This will be launched to students around Easter of Y12.

Students in the Sixth Form will have access to UniFrog which is a resource that allows them to navigate the huge range of courses from different universities by a number of different factors. Students will receive their individual login details for the website towards the end of Y12.

Oxbridge Support

Each year we have a number of students who apply successfully to Oxbridge and a number of them have completed reports following their interview experience which are available to help you prepare.

Students should speak to their subject teachers regarding advice and support for their Oxbridge application. We aim to provide all candidates with a mock interview as well as some support for admissions tests and interview preparation.

Societies

There are a number of sixth form societies that would be beneficial for students interested in studying specific subjects at university. The Medics Society is extremely popular and takes students through the application process in detail as well as having a number of interesting speakers. The Engineering Society (Kinetic) allows students to take part in a number of different group projects that develop some of the practical skills useful for Engineering degrees. We also have a Law Society, Debating Society, Economics Society as well as smaller groups of students who often set up their own societies to discuss topics of interest on a weekly/bi-weekly benefit. Students can book rooms for these at lunchtime through Mrs Akerman.
