Positions of Responsibility
The Sixth Form student body is critical to the successful day-to-day running of the school. The contributions made by senior students to the well being of younger pupils are considerable, and our system of school officials is designed to develop leadership and teamwork skills in senior students.
We would encourage all students to apply to be a school prefect. Other positions of responsibility within the Sixth Form include Mentors, House Captains and Senior Prefects.
Your child will be provided with detailed information of all these posts at the appropriate time. Prefects and Mentors are appointed late in the Autumn Term. After a few weeks those who have acquitted themselves particularly well in their new role are invited to attend a selection afternoon, after which the senior school officials (Senior Prefects, House Captains, Deputy School Captain and School Captain) are appointed.
Prefects assist in the smooth running of the school by carrying out lunchtime duties and contribute immeasurably to the atmosphere in school. Mentors work closely with newly arrived Year 7 classes to help them develop academically and personally. Exec Committee members are elected by their peers to represent the Sixth Form body in Exec Committee meetings and on the whole school council. Deputy House Captains are selected to assist in the running of the House system.
