Support

During the two years in the Sixth Form there are a huge number of opportunities, but also challenges and pressures that you will face. From learning to drive and making decisions about your future, to increased exposure to alcohol and drugs, there are likely to be some ups and downs, but it is important that you feel supported and that you have people to turn to within school.

In the Sixth Form your first point of contact for support should ideally always be your div tutor. They are in the best position to support you due to having regular daily contact. If you would prefer to talk to someone else then the Sixth Form Team are also here for you:

  • Mr Colquhoun - Director of Sixth Form

  • Mr Hamill - Assistant Director of Sixth Form (Y13)

  • Ms Nicholls - Assistant Director of Sixth Form (Y12)

  • Mr Gledhill - Assistant Director of Sixth Form (Careers & UCAS, Projects)

  • Mrs Akerman - Sixth Form Administrator

You might also consider speaking to any of our Senior School Officials (School Captains, Senior Prefects and House Captains) who will also be able to offer advice and guidance from their experience.

In addition students have access to an independent counsellor, Mrs Beedell, who is in school on Wednesdays - please see Matron to make an appointment. There is also Mrs Shepperd who is in school 4 days a week and is able to speak to students about any issues that they might be facing - she can be found down in the SDO+ office (AD1).

For Careers advice, we are extremely fortunate to have access to an in-school Independent Careers Advisor Mrs Beazley. Anyone in the Sixth Form can make an appointment with her either through Mrs Akerman or directly with Mrs Beazley (based in the SDO).
