Learning at Challoner's

The Learning Partnership

In line with the school’s vision, we see learning as a partnership between the school, parents and students. Learning at Challoner’s is about preparing your child for their future through focusing on good learning habits and skills for life. A common language of learning is in use throughout the school and can be found in this document:

Each year a Parents at Challoner’s evening is held for certain year groups to help parents understand various aspects of their child’s learning. These information evenings will help you understand how you can best support your child.

Your child’s progress is assessed throughout the year in a range of ways.  Feedback from this continual assessment by teachers and students is both verbal and written, and is based on classroom activities, home learning tasks, personal reflection, tests and internal exams.

We encourage you to discuss your child’s progress with them at regular intervals. To assist in this, you will be given a summary of your child’s progress three times a year. This will focus on your child’s ‘commitment’ and ‘attainment’ in each of their subjects. One of the summaries will include a comment from their Form or Div Tutor for all Years and for Years 9,10 and 12 they will also receive a personal comment on progress in their subjects at the same time.
