Parents are requested to encourage students to take proper responsibility for looking after their own property. Clothing and personal possessions should be clearly named and students need to be very careful to remember where they leave their possessions. Valuable items should be left at home wherever possible and large sums of money should not be brought to school under any circumstances.
When a student does have a valuable item in school (e.g. an iPad for lesson purposes), they must keep it with them at all times or leave it locked securely in their locker. During games lessons, at lunch time and after school (for clubs etc.) students must follow the security arrangements as instructed by staff and never leave valuables unattended in blazer pockets or bags. Students must also remember to take their bags home every night from their lockers.
If for any reason a locker cannot be secured, students should bring their bag to the Student Development Office until the issue is fixed. Belongings should not be left in an unsecured locker.
The school cannot accept responsibility for any loss or theft in school. Although we will do our best to help follow up incidents when they are reported, such investigations (especially in cases where students have failed to follow our advice) is an unnecessary drain on staff time.
The sale or trading of any items on school property or school journeys is forbidden.
In addition the following items are forbidden and must never be brought into school (see school rules):
Chewing gum, cigarettes, vapes of any sort, matches/lighters; illegal or non-prescribed drugs; fireworks, bangers or laser pens; alcoholic drinks; offensive weapons, including knives or other sharp instruments and real or imitation firearms of any kind
