The planner is used by the students to record, organise and improve their learning. The planner offers a diary to plan and record their home learning and opportunities for parents to comment and communicate with the school. The planner contains a target and feedback section for students to record their personal attainment targets for their subjects and feedback on how to improve their learning.
We have a clear policy of setting home-learning tasks for every student. This will take a variety of forms including written exercises, research, learning and preparation. Learning tasks must be recorded in the planner provided for this purpose, and should be completed on time. You can fulfil a vital role in checking your child’s learning and providing a quiet space where tasks can be undertaken. Please direct any queries about home learning to your child’s tutor.
If your child fails to complete learning tasks satisfactorily, or fails to meet deadlines, he may be issued with a detention card or a note in the planner so that you are made aware of the problem.
Students must carry their planner with them at all times as it is a vital communication link between home and school. Staff use this facility to communicate any issues to parents. Please sign the planner every week to confirm that you have noted your child's home-learning and read any comments which will then be countersigned by his form tutor each week. Students who lose their school planner can purchase a replacement for £4 from the Student Development Office.
