Project Overview
Through research and various activities, scholars have been able to analyze, explain, and identify the cultural differences between African ethnic & religious groups. With this, scholars looked for representation of each ethnic/religious group in the virtual art gallery at the High Museum of Art. Scholars were able to analyze the art work, identify which groups were represented, and explain the differences and similarities between them. Due to the lack of representation of some ethnic & religious groups in the High Museum of Art gallery, scholars took the opportunity to create a proposal in order to request for more representation of certain groups.

Entry Event
The “My Cultural Collage” activity was our entry event. This activity called for scholars to represent their culture using the various elements of culture (language, religion, food, clothing, traditions, art, music, etc) in order to understand what culture is and the ways in which it’s represented. In addition, the purpose of this activity served to create a meaningful experience that one could relate to, while exploring cultures that may be different from ours.

Seventh grade scholars took a virtual field trip to visit the African Art Collection at the High Museum of Art.
Final Products
Following their virtual visit to the African Art Collection at the High Museum of Art, scholars were able to make recommendations to the Chief Curator of the collection on the importance of representation of various African religious and ethnic groups missing from the collection.
