Project Overview
Fifth grade scholars took on the role of community health strategist as they explored how to stop the spread of COVID-19. Through their research they were able to graph the spread of cases, make economic recommendations based on the state of the economy due to COVID, and analyze how the virus has impacted other countries.
Entry Event
5th Grade scholars attended a grade level presentation with Senior Research Associate and Community Health Strategist, Mrs. Robyn Bussey from the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, Georgia State University, to learn about COVID-19 causes, number of cases, and ways to stop the spread of the virus.
Our Process
Fifth grade scholars completed interactive notebooks to organize their facts about various aspects of COVID-19.
Final Products
5th grade scholars worked on creating an informational writing essay in the form of a newsletter about COVID-19. Scholars also recorded informational PSA's about various countries and their experience with COVID-19 and the spread of cases.
