Project Overview
In this project, seventh grade scholars are challenged by a comic book publisher to create an engaging and mathematically meaningful comic book that will teach others about algebraic reasoning and mathematical modeling. Scholars explore the imaginary world(s) of superheroes in order to generate problems that their favorite characters might face. They model these problems using algebraic expressions and use these ideas to create their own algebra comic books.
Our Process
Seventh grade math scholars chose a real-world problem to solve in a comic book. Once they planned which word problem to use, they utilized the Comic Strip Story organizer to plan how to find the solution to the problem by crafting an interesting story.
