Students will take part in constructing a 1920s Hall of Fame that includes some of the most influential people of the decade. These individuals will span areas such as science, technology, music, literature, art, and mathematics. Students will learn about some important advancements made in these areas during the 1920’s through mini lessons delivered by each of their content teachers (math, science, social studies, and ELA). Teachers will essentially create a list of impactful figures from the time to help guide students in getting started on their work. Then, students will be able to further research other historical figures whose contributions significantly impacted society. Digital posters (including images, videos, other forms of multimedia) will be created to help students organize their research; these posters will be used to help students present their “pitch” for why their chosen figure should end up in the hall of fame. These pitches will take place in front of a panel of community members (other teachers, older students, parents, and or administrators, etc.). Students will receive a score from the judges panel to determine if they make it into the Hall of Fame.
