Psychologists

What is a School Psychologist?

School psychologists are uniquely qualified members to school teams that support students’ ability to learn and teachers’ ability to teach. They apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. They collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community for all students.

Ted Amen

I completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of South Dakota and then a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology at Sam Houston State University. After practicing in Texas for 7 years, I returned to Sam Houston State to complete a Doctorate in Forensic Clinical Psychology. I am licensed to practice as a Psychologist in Wyoming and after having worked for a year at Campbell County Memorial Hospital I was lured to Campbell County School District. I have found my position at CCSD particularly rewarding and have been here since 2005.

The greatest enjoyment about this job is to see all the commitment and work that is done on a daily basis by those with whom I collaborate. I enjoy the time and interaction with students and families. Particularly rewarding is when something is discovered or made more clear from my work that assists us in responding to students' needs.

I enjoy taking care of my cars, visiting and being awed by the design and engineering of automobilia, and getting to enjoy a crisp spring or fall day at the limits of tire adhesion through the Big Horns or Black Hills (just kidding, well maybe). Skiing takes a close second, although that cannot happen near enough.  Finally, I enjoy updating and remodeling my home.
